The Fellowship Programme is designed to give tremendous exposure to the fellows to a range of joint reconstructive surgeries including revision hip and knee replacements. The programme with its focus on clinical, surgical and research areas of arthroplasty expects the fellows to be involved in all aspects of patient care.
The PEOPLE TREE fellowship programme is a stepping stone that can take you to the bigger world of medical excellence. After successfully completing the course, each fellow will be supported by the hospital to obtain an international fellowship spanning a period of 4 to 6 weeks in England, Germany or USA.
Demonstrate the ability to assess a degenerative/Arthritic joint

As a fellow you are expected to complete at least 1 clinical or basic science research project. Then it will be presented at a national or international meeting and eventually will be submitted for publication.
Active participation in daily case presentations, weekly seminars and journal clubs is what is expected of a fellow. It takes at least 6 subject seminars and 6 journal club discussions on arthroplasty related subjects for a fellow to ‘successfully complete the course’.

In a nutshell CAS is a surgical technology that helps surgeons to ‘foresee’ the replacement components and their relationship to the bones and ligaments of the joint to be replaced. This is done with the help of a special camera designed to see the joint and limb and produce their images. Computer programs then integrate these images with surgical information and assist the surgeon during the operation
CAS can use actual images of the joint (X-rays/fluoroscopic, ultrasound or CT images) or can create virtual images of the damaged joint. Inputs to the camera and computer are fed by the surgeon about the normal and abnormal anatomic landmarks of the joint and limb. There are various ways in which the information can be transmitted. While some CAS systems use special cameras to identify and record the position of photo reflective spheres or infra-red light emitting devices, some other systems use ultrasonic devises to identify bony landmarks. For the surgeon it all comes handy when she uses these computer generated information and images to accurately and reproducibly reconstruct the damaged joint and limb.

Limb deformities can be attributed to a host of reasons such as chronic infection, neglected trauma and malunion. At PEOPLE TREE, we have a team of multidisciplinary professionals who are committed to offer the most technologically advanced treatment. Our team consists of limb reconstruction surgeons, interventional radiologists, plastic & microvascular surgeons, physiotherapists and pain psychologists.
We use a frame (ring) made of wires, pins and rods and attach them to the bone. Compressors/distractors attached to the frame systematically control the gap between bone fragments to allow lengthening to occur slowly between the surgically broken bone segments. The gap created fills in with new bone. The same distracters are used to correct angular abnormalities in joints.
